The agreement

Joining EgoSum is a promise.

EgoSum works because everyone follows the same rules. By joining, you agree to them — and every other member agrees to them about your information too.

Use shared data only for its stated purpose. When someone shares information with you through a CSC, you use it only for what that CSC is for — nothing else.
Never copy it out. You won't screenshot, screen-record, photograph, or copy shared information into any other app, system, or storage. What's shared stays inside EgoSum.
It's mutual. This is a covenant between you and other OCC holders — the protection you give is the protection you get.
Not a government ID. EgoSum doesn't replace traditional identification — it's a way for people to share and verify information under agreed rules.
A full user agreement with formal legal terms will come later. This is the commitment, in plain words.

Use an email you'll keep for good. It becomes a permanent part of your EgoSum identity — it can't be changed later. Not a school/work address you might lose.

Step 3 of 5 · Your identity

Create your identity.

This makes your OCC — a key generated right here on your device that is your identity. Next you'll see your 12-word recovery phrase to save. You'll set your vault password when you bring your identity into the app.

Step 4 of 5 · Recovery phrase

Write these 12 words down now.

Write them on paper, in order, and store them somewhere safe. You'll need them in a minute to finish setup in the app — so save them now, before you continue.

Your 12 words are everything. They are the only way back in — there is no reset. Anyone who has them controls your identity and can read your files. Never share them, screenshot them, or type them anywhere but the EgoSum app.

Open EgoSum →
In the app, choose "Restore" and enter the 12 words you saved. Your verified email attaches automatically. Your recovery phrase never travels over the internet — restoring it by hand is how we keep it private and confirm you saved it.
First you'll see a one-time security warning (self-signed test certificate). Tap Advanced → Proceed / Accept the Risk and Continue.
